Message from Ms. Renoir

Dear Thornton Family,

Welcome to the 2018 – 2019 school year!  I have high hopes for this year as we continue our journey developing more ways to support our students.  This will be our second year where students will have a homeroom period during which time they will have opportunities four times a week to get assistance with learning goals, extra time to work on homework, projects, or classwork, or time to catch up on their reading.  During this period, some students will be expected to attend a tutorial for one of their core subjects such as math where they will receive strategic instruction to move them towards mastery.  We will continue to offer a variety of academic support classes for students who are struggling in the core subjects.  Our counselors provide student support through individual meetings and group presentations and after school we have Homework Club where students get can get their work done in a quiet space.

We have a number of clubs offered at Thornton.  Be sure to check out what we offer this year.  The daily announcements provide vital information about clubs, sports and other activities at school.  There’s always something going on at lunch or after school, so make this the year where you get involved!

Please remember, we are here to support you.  If you are not sure of how to handle a situation, feel like you need help getting your grades up, or are having a problem with another person, seek out a staff member.  Your counselor, administrators, teachers and para-educators are happy to help or steer you in the right direction.

Sincerely,

Ms. Renoir
