Thornton Junior High School

What is AVID?

AVID is a certificated program that promotes college and career readiness. Thornton Junior High offers both 7th and 8th grade sections of AVID. Our program focuses on colleges, Cornell Notes, Socratic Seminar, organization, academic skill building, and tutorial study groups. We have guest speakers come to share their experiences with our students regarding their college careers and how it impacts their current profession. Our classes also take field trips to local college campuses in the Bay Area.
